Books I’ll Probably Never Read…

Nicole over at The Book Worm Drinketh tagged me in this post, and it’s my first one of these, so bear with me if I do it wrong! 😉

A REALLY HYPED BOOK YOU’RE NOT INTERESTED IN READING

Ok, everyone get ready with their rotten fruit.  I really think that Harry Potter was an amazing phenomenon.  I went to book release parties, and loved every minute. BUT.  I think it’s run it’s course and we should enjoy the original series and let it go at that, so I will not be reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child or Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

A SERIES YOU WON’T START/WON’T BE FINISHING

The Dexter Series

My sister read the books and was super into the show.  I watched the show after it came to Netflix and/or Amazon.  I enjoyed it for the most part.  I just don’t know if I could stomach reading about what he does.  I’m not sure how graphic the books are, and I’m not excited to find out.

A CLASSIC THAT YOU’RE JUST NOT INTERESTED IN

War and Peace

I don’t even have a great reason outside of: it doesn’t sound interesting and that is A LOT of pages to read through for a book that doesn’t sound appealing.

A GENRE(S) YOU NEVER READ

Hmmm… Maybe Christian/Religious books?  Let me qualify.  If the book is looking into various religions and the impact on the world/culture, etc; that sounds super interesting.  A book that targets an audience that already deeply believes in it’s ideologies and only wishes to further its agenda with those individuals, I’m much less interested in.

A BOOK ON YOUR SHELVES YOU’LL PROBABLY NEVER ACTUALLY READ

Cloud Atlas

I have tried reading this a couple of times, but just couldn’t get into.  I don’t think I’ll ever end up trying again/finishing.

I think this is the part where you can nominate other people… so, if you’re interested in participating, give it a try!  Leave a link in the comments, I’d love to read your answers.

  1. I started the Dexter series and I enjoyed it… I wasn’t a big fan of the tv show, but the books were a little different. But, I didn’t make it through all of them becauee I find that when the show starts the author changes the voice in the books to that of the show so they start to feel different. I found the same things with Kathy Reichs after Bones started even though her characters were so different, it was almost like she got confused about who was who..

    1. I could see why A Game of Thrones won’t be finished. I was just saying the other day that it may seem like a dream come true to have your books brought to reality, but if they aren’t finished it would be hard not to let the voice of them be influenced.
